Will bleaching work on a tooth with a dead nerve?

1 Comment 18 August 2010

All of my teeth are a lot duller than I would like them but one of my front teeth is noticeably more yellow than the rest because the nerve is dead (know this from a dental x-ray years ago). I was thinking I would like to get them all whitened (bleached), but would this work on the dead one? If not, would it be better to get the veneer after I get the rest whitened?

Will tooth-whitening strips hurt if you have a cavity or exposed nerve?

1 Comment 22 May 2010

I doubt I have either of those things, as I just had a great check-up. But I’ve had problems with tooth sensitivity and gum recession in the past. I remember reading years ago that that tooth-whitening stuff that you brush onto your teeth (I’m not sure if they make it anymore) REALLY hurts if you have tooth problems that you don’t know about. Is the same true for the whitening strips?

Zoom whitening: can it whiten a tooth with a dead nerve?

I had a partial root canal years ago and my tooth is slightly darker than the rest. Will zoom whitening or any other procedure (at a reasonable cost) help?
