Do the Benefits of Dental Implants Outweigh the Costs?

No Comments 06 November 2010

Often when it comes to selecting a restorative treatment many people base their decision on cost.   The cost of dental implants can range depending on whether upper or lower tooth implants are required and taking into consideration, the individual’s particular oral condition. In some cases you may have additional costs of a posterior mandible, bone regeneration, sinus elevation, and wide diameter or narrow diameter implants. Although dental implants may be a costly procedure they deliver a long lasting smile and will prove to be value for money. If oral health is maintained with regular maintenance dental implants can last a lifetime. Dental tooth implants duplicate your tooths structure. A Dental implants dentist replaces your missing teeth by placing the tooth implant on an artificial tooth root made of biocompatible materials, which are implanted into the jawbone using a painless and simple procedure.  This metal does well in the body and rarely causes any reaction in patients. It is the same material that is used in knee and hip replacements. Dental tooth implants are uniquely designed with small holes at the outside surfaces, like the roots of natural teeth. These holes cause the tooth implants to stimulate bone growth. Over time, the bone tissue actually grows into the small holes, securing the implant. There are a number of restorative options for the treatment of missing teeth, though none have proven to be as functional and highly effective as dental implants. Dental tooth implants will restore both the functionality and enhance the aesthetics of your smile. If the cost of dental implants are preventing you from having the procedure it is worth investigating the range of payment options dentist have or talking to your local dentist about the cost of teeth implants

What are the Benefits of Home Teeth Whitening Kits?

No Comments 19 August 2010

Do your stained teeth keep you from smiling? While yellow teeth are not some big-time health-risk, it is still a problem. People aren’t likely to die from it, but it is something they can be really ashamed of to the point that their confidence and self-assessment suffer. Until recently, people go to a professional for cosmetic dentistry, and since it is rather expensive, not everybody gets a chance to whiten their teeth. Today, with the ease of acquiring and using home teeth whitening products, there really is no reason for anyone to put up with their yellow teeth. To find out which product would suit you best, you need to know what caused your teeth’s discoloration. It can be caused by frequent wine, coffee or tea consumption, as well as smoking. Also, your teeth is bound to get a yellowish hue as you get older, because stains sometimes manage to seep through, as time passes by. Home teeth whitening products work best for yellow stains. There are cases when someone has to seek professional help, especially if the problem is structural – like chipped teeth or tooth decay. Another key point to remember is that a dentist has several tools that can hasten teeth whitening. However, cosmetic dentistry can get pretty expensive. In-chair bleaching and dentist-supervised gel treatment can cost 300 to 1000 dollars. The good news is that there are cheaper home teeth whitening products that can be very effective in removing stains. Only, you’d have to apply them yourself. If you look up home teeth whitening products, you would most probably bump into the three most commonly used methods ‘ whitening strips, gels and brush-on or paint-on whitening. The cheapest among these three is the brush on whitening formula which costs from $3 to $5 per tube. A pack of whitening strips that you can use for 10 days costs $15. Whitening gels can be purchased for as low as $10. However, if you buy it along with a whitening kit, the cost could be as much as a hundred because it includes a mouthguard. Instead of using regular toothpaste, just use one that contains a bleaching agent. After brushing, apply the whitening formula on teeth. It can get rather arduous since the formula works well on dry teeth; since your mouth is normally wet, this isn’t very easy. Whitening strips are very easy to use. These plastic strips are coated with peroxide or a similar bleaching agent. Just stick one on your teeth after brushing and take them off after 20 to 30 minutes. You’d see the whitening results in as early as ten days. Whitening gels can be easy to use, especially if you go for the apply-it-on option. However, the most effective teeth whitening method is the gel treatment with a mouthguard. Just fill the denture-like item with gel and then wear them for a few hours. You can eliminate those pesky teeth stains at home, without having to eliminate a considerable portion of your income. However, keep in mind that these treatment isn’t permanent. Nothing is ‘ even with chair-side bleaching and supervised gel application where results can last for up to 3 years. However, with the lower cost of home teeth whitening products, redoing your teeth whitening sessions annually shouldn’t be a big problem.

There is little doubt that having a wonderful smile is not only good for your self esteem but also make you look younger and more attractive to anyone who you meet but keeping the wonderful smile is what we are discussing in this piece. Having teeth whitening will be a liberating experience as the teeth will be whiter and look fantastic but we need to think about how to keep the teeth and the gums in top health so we have created a list of essential whitening healthcare-Good Dental HygieneSeeing your dentist is probably not high on your list and the term not broken so dont fix it should not be used when it comes to seeing your dentist. Prevention is better than cure and the dentist will ensure the teeth and gums are healthy and in turn this does reduce the staining process. Avoid Acidic DrinksThe enamel wears as we get older but avoiding high acidic drinks and foods will keep this to a minimum. It is easy for us to go to the fridge and get a can of soda but think about the teeth. As the enamel erodes this allows the staining to penetrate easier and then the teeth cannot resist this colour changing process as much as stronger enamel which has less porous values. Reduce Intake of Coffee,Tea etcLiquid staining is harder to remove than most other staining elements so I am not suggesting avoiding all tea and coffee but keeping your intake down to a sensible level. For some people who work in an office try drinking a cup of water in-between your cups of coffee. Also red wine and fruit drinks like blackcurrant also fall in to this category so try drinking water, milk or even lemon flavoured cordial etc. Brush and Floss RegularlyBrushing and flossing goes without saying but I thought it was worth just ensuring this activity is done at least once per day if not twice. Heavy handed brushers should change their style as the teeth do not need brushing in same way as your kitchen floor. This heavy brushing style will lead to the gums receding and then the teeth are more prone to staining in these areas so be gentle and also ensure you change your tooth brush every few weeks as they wear and you will not notice!Regular Teeth WhiteningWhether you select the laser whitening method, trays or the multitude of home kits on the market just remember that even following the above advice the teeth will re-stain so you need a way of topping up the whiteness whether this is a twenty minute session with the laser, or a session with the trays placed in your mouth just do regularly and the teeth will stay white and bright. SummaryTeeth whitening like most things require focus and discipline but we are suggesting life changing stuff just enough to keep a balance and maintain the smile without going overboard. Good luck and hope this helped you.

White Tea Health Benefits Are Gaining Wider Recognition

No Comments 20 March 2010

The health benefits of white tea are slowly gaining the recognition they deserve. For years, white tea has languished in the shadows of its more popular cousins, green tea and black tea. Now thanks to wider exposure, the healing properties of this beverage are being discussed and analyzed more often. White tea got its name from the presence of silvery white hairs in the leaves and buds of its source plant – camellia sinensis – which is where all true teas come from. The hairs are present because unlike the other varieties, the plant to made into white tea is plucked even before it fully opens and while they are still covered with the hairs. White tea comes from the Chinese province of Fujian. It has several varieties such as Silver Needle (Bai Hao Yinzhen), White Peony (Bai Mudan), white Darjeeling, longlife eyebrow and tribute eyebrow. Recent research has shown that white tea may hold more anti-oxidants than the other varieties. It also appears to exhibit greater anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties than its green counterpart. These are mainly due to the fact that white tea is steamed immediately after it is picked, and then fast-dried. The resultant effect is that this preserves higher concentrations of catechins than the other teas. Catechins are compounds found in the leaves and buds that are thought to boost the immune system and combat such bodily ailments and disorders as cancer and heart disease. Evidence also point to the beverage’s beneficial effects in increasing bone density, lowering blood pressure, lowering cholesterol levels and strengthening the teeth. White tea has a milder taste compared to black tea and has a less “grassy” taste than green tea. To make a cup, place a tablespoon of the leaves in about eight ounces of near-boiling water. Let it soak for three to five minutes. The leaves can be reused several times. So the next time you come across white tea, it’s worth bearing in mind that it is considered the most potent variety as it possesses greater amounts of the natural disease-fighting compounds than its counterparts.

Teeth Whitening – Health Benefits For Whitening the Teeth

No Comments 16 March 2010

Sometimes for the reason of being busy everyday of our lives, we just tend to disregard our teeth. We didn’t know that these mighty white structures inside our mouth, regardless of their rigidity needed regular attention and care also. All that gets inside our intestine will virtually pass through our teeth. All kinds of food residues as well as beverage stains got stuck in our teeth over a long period of time. As all of those debris accumulates in our teeth, discoloration occurs, often characterized by yellowing of the teeth. When our teeth reached this point, all it needed is an effective teeth whitening regimen. Healthy Teeth for Healthy Body When the enamel on our teeth got stripped off due to some abrasives and acids from the food we eat, all we get is a very annoying sensitive tooth. Sensitive teeth make us feel awkward when we eat and prohibit us from eating some more. As a result, our body will eventually succumb to malnutrition. Healthy teeth depend on how we took care of them. All the elements our teeth had been exposed to since we had our permanent ones had an effect on them even though it is not felt and seen right away. The continuing process of wear and tear in our teeth through our everyday use of them makes them vulnerable to damages. Many factors contribute to the demise of our teeth and when we are not vigilant enough to stop these causes from damaging our teeth, chances are, our overall health will suffer too. Everyday microscopic cracks and fissures develop within the enamel of our teeth without us knowing it. Normally our enamel is built to be virtually “impenetrable” but as these dents develop into cracks it became easily permeable to offensive dirt and stains altogether now. In order for our body to stay healthy, we should restore our teeth first to its original shining glory. Our entire health depends greatly on foods that we take in everyday. This healthy balance in our body might be cut off if the part of our system that cuts our food to become digestible in our stomach becomes weak. Teeth whitening are the first option if we want to stay healthy. Well, you want to know the processes in making your teeth white and healthy everyday? Here’s how: * Regular brushing of teeth. Regular brushing means brushing of teeth at least twice daily to take away the majority of dirt and stains that had accumulated for the day. * Flossing. Make this a habit of flossing your teeth after every brushing session. Even if brushing is impossible, at least don’t forget to floss your teeth. It will free your teeth from the dirt that gets in between teeth that brushing alone cannot get rid of. * Avoiding of stain sources. Daily intake of beverages like tea, coffee, red wine and other sources of teeth stain can make our teeth dull and wipe away the luster out of it. If those elements cannot be totally avoided, at least take it with smallest amount possible. Teeth whitening can give us a lot of healthy benefits. When we have white teeth we can smile as often as we want to without the feeling of being conscious with our teeth. Every time we smile many neurons in our brain can be stimulated and exercised and would eventually produce many positive and healthy effects on our body.
