Can I put gel teeth whitener on my plastic retainers and then wear them?

1 Comment 19 January 2011

Question by Kathyyy.: Can I put gel teeth whitener on my plastic retainers and then wear them?
I have the gel type teeth whitener that requires you to use q-tips to apply them on your teeth. I was wondering if I can just put the gel teeth whitener on my plastic retainers and wear them and follow the same procedures? Will it ruin the plastic retainers if I do it this way?

Question by Paisley E: about these homemade teeth whitening ideas?
i found this on a website….

4.Hydrogen peroxide is probably the most common and popular natural lightening agent.

5.Lemon juice, baking soda or baking powder can also be used for teeth whitening.

how would i do this????

I would be careful your teeth can become sensitive after any home whitening. My husband tried the over the counter stuff and it made his teeth sensitive to the air he breathed in. I would just go to to dentist. Its better than risking you teeth that aren’t replaceble.

How can I become a teeth implant dentist?

No Comments 24 December 2010

Question by Jerk: How can I become a teeth implant dentist?
I got into this dental program at UoP so i’ll be a dentist in six years. however i was wonder as to which school offers teeth implant studies and how long it’d take to get a degree in it?

Best answer:

Answer by KTyler
im guessing thats the University of the Pacific. the dental school for there is the Dugoni School of Dentistry, and it takes 4 years to be a general dentist. But i believe this is one of the only schools that you can get your DDS degree in 3 years, if you are highly qualified and anticipated to of course. It would be at least 5 years or up to 6 years if you are willing to be a dentist specialist. Implant studies are considered under advanced education in the dentistry field. After you’ve received your DDS degree, you can continue into advanced education in general dentistry. Things you should be taught in this average 12-month course include:
- management of oral facial pain including TMJ patients.
- importance of occlusion
- contemporary endodontics and periodontics
- oral surgery techniques and skills including to dental implants.
- advanced restorative and prosthodontic treatment also including dental implants.

and much more is involved. You don’t necessarily get a degree just under implant studies. you get a Graduate Certificate under Advanced Education in General Dentistry, which offers much more studies than just dental implants. but for the conclusion. It would actually take approximately at least 5 years and could be up to 6 years to be a dentist who specializes in advanced things such as dental implants.

whitening kits?

No Comments 20 December 2010

Question by michelle w: whitening kits?
I have a whitening kit. i was wondering if these are better than crest white strips? this kit is from a dentist? any info will help.

Also are you allowed to drink soda with it. if you are what kind should you and shouldn’t

Best answer:

Answer by nicole t
A kit from your dentist is most likely highly concentrated. Over the counter whitening strips are cheaper and effective, but for optimum results a kit from your dentist is the best bet! :)
While whitening, I wouldn’t recommend drinking anything that may stain your teeth, such as, coffee, soda (with color), juices, red wine…..if you do drink these things, drink through a straw. It is less likely to stain the front of your teeth.
Colorless foods and beverages are your best bet for optimum results. But, who wants to live on a colorless food diet? This is more pertinent when doing in office whitening, since the teeth will stain much easier after treatment for the first few days.
You should be fine carrying on with normal eating habits. I do strongly recommend drinking through a straw, though.

Anyone dislike yahoo’s “teeth whitening” ads?

Question by Friendly Stranger..: Anyone dislike yahoo’s “teeth whitening” ads?
Now I was never a big fan of yahoo’s Internet ads in the first place, but their latest teeth whitening adds have become a nuisance. I realize I could complain about it on yahoo’s suggestion part of the site but I know yahoo’s admins won’t bother to listen. I would rather not see the before and after shots of teeth while I am browsing and answering questions on this site. Does it bother anyone else?

no wouldnt be too good because leaving that specific toothpaste on too long may cause your teeth to have surges of pain and totally numb your teeth and it will fall off

Will LED whitening work on my partially translucent teeth?

No Comments 28 November 2010

Question by taytay056: Will LED whitening work on my partially translucent teeth?
My teeth are yellowed and I want to whiten them…they are translucent around the edges, though, so is LED whitening contraindicated? Please give details on whether it will work well, and if any type of whitening will. Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by PenPress
Teeth are meant to be translucent along the edges because there is no intervening dentin layer underneath the enamel.

Relax, it is normal.

As for the rest of the teeth being yellow, that is normal too as the dentinal layer shows through the enamel.

Call a local county dental society. Many of them offer free clinics.

Finding a dentist to do work for free in his office will be very difficult due to liabilities and overhead costs.
